Abstract
Four desmid species from Thai freshwater samples, collected in February 2008, are separately discussed. Xanthidium lenticulare is described as new to science. It is characterized by a remarkable, lens-like cell structure. Sphaerozosma vertebratum var. indicum is recombined as a variety in the species Sph. aubertianum. The morphology, taxonomic relationship and geographical distribution are discussed for Cosmarium beatum and Staurastrum burkillii.
